So much going on so little time!!!

Ok...so I haven't been really neglecting my blog....I have really been just enjoying my life off the computer.

So much is happening right now...that I know I need to get caught up.

The visit from my parents was WONDERFUL. The kids were with Jim's parents and it was really a great time to reconnect with my parents after shielding them for so long from all the crap I was going through without the distractions. Thursday we had a quiet Thanksgiving. Friday my Mom wasn't feeling good and went for a negative strep test. We met the guys for Breakfast and then we went home and Bettied up and the guys went out on their own. They were so comfortable with each other it was so nice. We went to the consignment store in town and I found a suit jacket for Adam for $3 and a nice Christmas dress for around $4 and a nice two piece dress for myself for $20. We then hit Good will went to lunch and then shopped at the mall for a little bit. It was bliss. Saturday we went to St. Paul to an Irish shoppe and spent several hours looking there. We unfortunately went to the MOA and fought a few of the crowds for a snack and a little shopping. We met Joe at the light rail station and rode downtown Minneapolis for a very nice dinner. At dinner my Mom decided to go to the ER after dinner because her sore throat was so bad. She had been such a trooper but it was just getting to her. Sunday we took it easy went grocery shopping and got ready for the week. Picked up the kids and then they enjoyed their company for a few hours. Monday morning they left. I wasn't sad or happy to see them go. I have very warm memories of the visit and wished it was longer.

Today I watched my youngest child figure out how to button a button right before my eyes. She just took over and wouldn't let me help....She buttoned a few and then when it came to the last button she went into the bathroom and closed the door for her privacy. I didn't think she would get it but she came out after five minutes of struggling with it the task completed. All I could do was watch in awe as she normally pushed my hand out of the way and did it. Adam still doesn't know how to do buttons...undo yes...but doing is harder. Everything has to be taught. I just took this Mommy moment in and enjoyed every last second of her struggling with it and sat back and watched. I was a little put off when she decided to close the bathroom door to do it on her own...but she wants to learn without me. Smart kid.

I went to my other smart kid's IEP meeting today. I am so proud of that kid. Adam has improved so much over the last three years but especially in the last two. I had him evaluated at his therapy and his developmental age was 2-3 when he was four...he is now closer to his age. Reading and comprehension he is now with in the average mark. Still struggles with speech not so much knowing what things were but putting thoughts together. Math is another area he is low. I look at how far he has come and how independent he is now...It is hard to keep focused on, as I am in the trenches of raising him and teaching him how to be a good person, how far he is coming and listening today I can see I am on the right path. I am so proud of him and I can see him going really far.
