Servitude

Today I woke up with a screaming headache. I couldn't move very much with out it splitting my head so I knew I couldn't take the kids to church like I had planned.

Now I haven't been a very good Catholic mother and no I haven't taken on the oh so well known Catholic guilt. It is just the way life is right now. I was planning to this morning but my weekends are really needed for regeneration of my spirit so that I can serve so the headache prevailed and snoozed a little so it would clear up a little. I know, excuse, excuse....but I don't really need to explain it here. So once I woke up I started on my piles and piles and piles and piles of dirty laundry that I started yesterday. I got about 1/2 way done and realized how happy it was making me. I had the kids getting the hangers out of the closets and bringing them to me and then hanging them back up then successfully putting the laundry away in the correct drawers. Well it didn't stop there. Adam emptied all the trashes from the upstairs into a trash bag I asked him to bring up. Kaitlyn helped me sweep the bathrooms.....Then as I was on my knees finishing up mopping the bathroom floors with a towel I realized I was happy because my family was supporting me in serving them. Not only were the kids and I but also Joe...who helped me with our laundry and also made dinner. The aromas of pinesol have been wafting over the house and then mixing with the chicken cooking downstairs and I realized I have it all and I am so happy to be serving my family.

Before it was a burden to serve my family now I am very happy in being a servant to them because they are also a servant to me just as we all are to God. In turn I was being a servant to God through teaching my children the happiness in servitude as they were everytime they were finished doing a job asking for more. I have always thought of my life as a prayer and maybe it is an angry prayer...but today it is a servant prayer.

This is all I dreamed of. Now off to continue to serve God and my family....the floor needs to be vaccumed.
